I’ve been using the homemade laundry detergent I talked about here for a few weeks now. As promised, here is an update on what I think of it.

Pros:

-Easy and cheap to make

-Cleans really well, even on Matt’s work clothes

-Easy to use

-Lasts a long time

Cons:

-It appears I am allergic to Felsnaptha. Head to toe rash that involved me having to change out the sheets at 10:15 at night. So I can’t use this soap on anything other than Matt’s clothes.

-You do have to take the time to make the soap.

Because I loved how well this cleaned, I’m going to try again but use Ivory soap instead of Felsnaptha. Hopefully that will work. Will be awhile before that though as I need to use up what I have so I have a place to put the new soap. 🙂

    I can’t use Fels-naptha either…so I use Kirk’s Castile. I can’t use Ivory, it dries my skin out.

Thanks! I’ll remember that if the Ivory doesn’t work. Not sure if I can easily find the Castile soap.

Ivory works well for my family. I’ve never tried the Fels-naptha, but the Ivory seems to clean just fine.

I used it for a while and liked it though it seemed to stop working so well on dh’s work clothes toward the end. I did not like the liquid kind. It was messy and gross!
