There are always new readers on any blog. That’s the way of the internet! However, how well do you know your favorite bloggers? Their blog? I thought a fun way to kick off the new year would be to share some facts about me and the blog that you might not know. Here are 7 things you didn’t know about Logger’s Wife, both the person (hi, I’m Julie!) and the blog.
- I was married at 21. I was still in college. We married right before going back to school for our final semester. Sometimes marrying young has been a great thing. We got to grow up together. Other times…it’s just different. It’s hard when all the friends your age aren’t settling down yet.
- Logger’s Wife started as a way to document my life, share cute stories of the kids at work (I was working daycare), life with a logger/forester, and ranting about life. It was really just an online journal. Then it became more of a place to share how I live on a tight budget. At one point I had a bit of identity crisis and it became frugal living, parenting, marriage, Christianity, life, and even book reviews. I have since scaled back and am focusing only on the frugal living and parenting aspects with the occasional “life” posts.
- I can milk both cows and goats but am much more comfortable with cows. I used to spend weekends I needed cash helping out on a dairy farm that was in my family. Sometimes I’d help with the milking itself but a lot of the time my job was the take care of the calves and hay the cows.
- Logger’s Wife has had a ton of different designs over the years. I have done it myself and have hired a designer. The current design (bright flowers) is my own. I was in the need of something bright and happy.
- I’m a strange mix of super planned and spontaneous. Day to day, I need to know what is going on and have a schedule. But I also like to do fun things spontaneously. Even if it means having to stop at Walmart to buy a toothbrush, pjs, and underwear on our way to a spur of the moment trip.
- The name of the blog has always been Logger’s Wife. It made sense when I first started writing almost 9 years ago. Now? Now I’m considering a name change to fit more with what I am now. Mortgages and Minivans keeps coming to mind. What do you think?
- I hate the color yellow. I realize that’s an odd thing to dislike but I really cannot stand yellow. Ironically, my house is a yellow-y cream. It almost kept me from buying it. I don’t know what it is about that color but I avoid it. I don’t even dress my girls in yellow if I can help it.
