Well, I can tell you that is was quite the weekend. We had a competition on Martha’s Vineyard. That was an adventure in itself. Driving through the new, huge tunnel in Boston, trying to make the ferry on time, getting a little bit lost. The big adventure came Saturday at the competition.
The day wasn’t going great for Matt. Just not preforming the way he knows he can. Then came this crazy event called obstacle pole. I do have video but YouTube and I are having words at the moment. So bear with me as I try to explain.
There is the long, big log on an incline on the ground so one end is resting on the ground and the other is a few feet in the air. There is a chainsaw on the ground near the tall end. You start at the tall end, grab the saw, run along the length of the log, then up the log. When you get to the end of the log that is up in the air, you start the saw and cut the end off a block attached to the log. Then you shut the saw off, run back down the log, then run along to ground back to where you started.
Matt is not a runner. He just isn’t. I think his feet are too big and he stumbles. So anyway, he struggled with turning off the saw since the switch was different then he was used to. So he lost time trying to figure that out and tried to make it up with running. Well, after he hit the ground his head started going faster than his feet. He tried to catch up but just couldn’t. He ended up wiping out.
Unfortunately, when he landed, he slid along the bar of the chainsaw. Looked like a bear took a swipe at his side. The EMTs fixed him up. They were very close to sending him for stitches but manged to close him up with Steri-strips. It looks a lot better today. Wish I had taken a before picture. He ended up laughing the entire time. Just such a random thing to happen.
So today’s Two for Tuesday is more like one big one. I am so thankful that the saw was off and he ended up not needing stitches. His injury could have been so much worse than it was.
