Welcome to the third monthly Small Business Mom feature. If you’ve missed the first two months, you can find them here. If you aren’t sure what this monthly feature is, it is quite simple! Each month I choose one mom who runs a small business to feature here on the blog. I interview her and ask questions that you might have of her. The goal is to not only help gain them exposure but also to help encourage any moms thinking about working from home on their own business. (If you are interested in being featured, go here to fill out the form.)
This month we are talking to Jessie, a new Norwex consultant.
Hi, Jessie! Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a newer stay at home mom who left a wonderful teaching career to have and raise my babies a little over a year ago. I had two beautiful children born less than a year apart. I love being home. My husband is in the military and is gone a lot, but I love being able to stay home with them.
Tell us about your business:
I just started selling Norwex. We are a company that makes products that reduces chemicals in our home. We carry cleaning and personal products.
How did you decide you wanted to run your own business?
I changed our lifestyle after my daughter was born with sensitivities to chemical products. I started making my own soaps, cleaners, etc. I even have an Etsy shop we put on vacation mode for now. I was introduced to Norwex last year and fell in love. I decided to bring in extra income to help our family by selling the products we use ourselves every day.
What are your top three favorite products that you sell?
What do you love most about being a work at home mom?
Sometimes its hard with two littles, but I love to be creative and this gives me time to get together with others and share products that will change their lives.
Do you have any advice for moms thinking about starting their own business?
Only do it if you have good support at home. We struggled with our Etsy shop because my husband was gone a lot with the military and I could not make, photograph, market, set up shop, etc. without his help with the kids. I could not be the best mom if I stayed up all night to work on our shop.
Can you share a favorite “mom moment” with us?
When my not yet one year old daughter made my sister put on her her fanciest dress so she looked pretty to go meet her new baby brother in the hospital. I have the picture and I still tear up!
