Welcome to our second Small Business Mom feature! A recap for those that missed last month: Small Business Mom is a once a month post featuring a, you guessed it, small business mom! Last month we got to meet Amber, a Thirty-One consultant.
This month we get to meet a different Amber. Amber Murphy is the creator and owner of Sweet Fig Handicrafts.
Hi, Amber! Tell us a little about yourself.
I am 29, married, and have a 3 year old daughter. I have been a SAHM for more than 3 years, and previously worked in medical administration. I’ve always been crafty but learned about electronic die cutting machines last December and knew I had to have one!
Tell us about your business:
I make personalized gift items and clothing items.
How did you decide you wanted to run your own business?
I honestly didn’t know I wanted to start a business until people were asking to buy stickers I made for my own planner.
What are your top three favorite products that you sell?
What do you love most about being a work at home mom?
The flexibility in being able to be there for my preschooler, every day.
Do you have any advice for moms thinking about starting their own business?
Remember that it’s a journey, and your business will evolve in ways you never thought of when you started out. Don’t feel like you have to get it all done immediately.
Can you share a favorite “mom moment” with us?
My daughter started calling me “Beeb” when she was around 18 months old. I don’t know why, but it was absolutely adorable and hilarious.
Thanks so much, Amber, for taking the time to talk to us about being a Small Business Mom! Be sure to check out Amber’s website.
