1. I made cookies using a mix I received as part of a Yankee Swap at a Christmas party last month. Less work and cheaper than making them fully myself. 🙂
2. I used a Buy One, Get One Free coupon to buy some disposable razors. I haven’t paid full price for razors in 7 years.
3. I used a free medium coffee coupon from my Dunkin Donuts Perks account. I love that program! I put money on my DD gift card and each time I use the card, I earn 5 points per dollar spent. After 200 points, you get a free medium beverage. It doesn’t take much to get to 200 points as there are often bonus offers.
4. Yet another coupon…we used a free appetizer coupon for one of our meals out for our getaway weekend.
5. I booked the hotel for our weekend away using a travel site. Sometimes that saves money, sometimes it doesn’t. This time, it worked out. 🙂
What are some ways you saved money this month?

Even though I think we’re quite different (I am single, no desire for a child, and get emotionally distressed seeing logging, although I try to remember how much I enjoy toilet paper and stationary), I really like your monthly “Ways I Saved” posts. They’re unique, relevant, and a good reminder to find ways to patch yourself on the back for frugal wins. So many times, it’s the same soak dry beans, haggle for a lower cable bill, and use cash back shopping websites, that all of the tips seem the same. It’s neat to read how a frugal win plays out in a different lifestyle than yours, and is personally relevant for the blogger. Mine today might look like jog 14 miles instead of using gas to drive for caffeine, use Dollar Tree laundry soap for just my laundry, and make homemade chicken broth as a recovering vegetarian that is trying for less carby fill-ups. They’re not as specific, and with colorful life details as yours, but they’re a part of my daily life. I hope you write more of this series.

I actually stopped doing this series almost 2 years ago now. It is definitely looking outside the box though!
