You’re online. You’re reading a blog. Therefore, you probably know about Amazon Prime. You hear about it everywhere! It took me years to finally purchase Prime. I wasn’t sure it was worth it. Oh my goodness, I wish I had done it sooner! Yes, I love the two-day shipping. That is a huge benefit for someone who orders from Amazon all the time. I love no longer having to wait until I have a certain amount before I order (although, sometimes I forget and still wait for a while). However, there are more Amazon Prime benefits beyond just fast shipping. Keep reading to find out what they are. Some might surprise you.
Prime Video
This is by far one of my favorites. It is a great addition to Netflix. I don’t feel like there is quite enough of what we watch on Prime Video to get rid of Netflix but it is a nice compliment. I wouldn’t get Prime just for Prime Video. There are a fair amount of newer shows as well as older shows (they have Family Ties!) as well as movies and original series. You can even download videos on your mobile devices to watch without using your data plan. We love this feature for traveling or when a big storm is coming in and might knock out the power.
Prime Photo
This is a great benefit. No more worrying about your photos getting lost or deleted. It’s the perfect way to back up all your photos, even videos. There is even a phone app so you can automatically backup your photos without having to think about. Sure, there’s iCloud if you have Apple but it gives great piece of mind to have your photos saved in more than one location. The best part? There is unlimited storage. I love that as I don’t have to worry about deleting things to make space for new things. None of those dreaded “your storage is almost full” notifications.
Prime Music
Prime Music is a streaming service similar to Pandora or Spotify. There are some paid plans (called Prime Music Unlimited) but the base level plan is included with Prime membership. The base plan offers more than 2 million songs and lots of playlists and stations. Unlike Spotify, you can add songs to a playlist and not deal with them shuffling. They actually play in the order you want them to. Unlike Pandora, you have an unlimited number of skips. My daughter often runs out of skips so this is a huge deal for us. 😉 Here’s the best part: no ads!
Extra Deals
Every so often there will be deals that are only available for Prime members. They also release certain Gold Box Deals and Deals of the Day to Prime members 30 minutes earlier than they do for the rest of Amazon shoppers. This is especially handy come November and Black Friday shopping. On top of both those things, there are even items that are only available for Prime members. I have purchased a few things that ended up being Prime only and I have been so glad to have my Prime membership.
Prime Reading
This one is new to me. I knew about Kindle First, which is a Prime benefit where you can choose one pre-released ebook per month from a list of four or so. Prime Reading is different. With that, there is a rotating list of 1,00o ebooks that you can read for free. Each month they also offer a rotating list of 50 free digital magazines. What an amazing benefit! Combine that with free ebooks that sometimes released and borrowing from the library, you may never have to buy another book.
You don’t even need a Kindle to get this benefit. You can read on any device with the Kindle app. I love this feature on my phone as I am now never without a book.
Amazon Prime benefits definitely extend beyond free two-day shipping. These five benefits will definitely add to your Amazon Prime experience. Plus, Amazon seems to be coming out with even more reasons to use Prime all the time! You never know when another awesome benefit will begin.
