Sometimes it is difficult to know what to get a mom for Christmas. Most the time, you have no idea what she wants or needs because she doesn’t say anything. If you’re lucky, the mom in your life has been dropping some major hints but if not, you’re going to need some help. You want to get her something she’ll love and not something she’ll just fake interest in. Sure, she might honestly want a new vacuum for Christmas (*hint hint*) but she may be the type that doesn’t want something that reminds her of chores.
If you’re stuck and have no idea what to get your wife, your mom, or your mom friend, keep reading for some ideas for the perfect Christmas gifts for mom.
Coffee/ coffee cards
Or tea or hot chocolate or Mountain Dew. Whatever her vice is. Mama is gonna love it! There was one Christmas I received 72 of my favorite k-cups. Best Christmas ever! You can make it cute if you want with a new mug. In fact, that would be a perfect idea. Just be sure to get the type/flavor right or the coffee shop right. You don’t want to give her a StarbucksĀ card if there aren’t any within 2 hours of her.
Tools to make her life easier
Maybe this one is a small appliance like a Keurig, electric pressure cooker, or cordless handheld vacuum. Listen to what she is always struggling with and find a solution. It could be baskets to organize the bathroom closet. A special crafting light might help if she is struggling to see her craft project. Or maybe it’s a subscription to a meal planning service to help take that task off her plate. Just listen to what she complains about. It will give you a big hint as to what would make her life easier.
A weekend off
This one is especially true for the mom of young kids. Give her an entire weekend off. And I don’t mean just do most her work. I mean, give her a whole weekend at home or at a hotel (whichever works better for your budget and her preference) with no other people. At all. Just her. Moms spend so much time taking care of everyone else. It’s tiring. Give her time where she doesn’t need to feed or bathe anyone but herself.
Books or movies
Even though she does probably rarely have time to herself, give her things to enjoy that time. If she’s a reader, do some investigating into what books she would like (hint: she probably has an Amazon wish list). If she’s a movie or TV person, a DVD she has always wanted or you know she would enjoy would be perfect. Another great thought would be to replace an old VHS or two with a DVD. Or you could do a Netflix, Redbox, or Vudu gift card.
Housecleaning
Oh, yes. I went there. Most every mom would love to have someone else clean her house. It is a never-ending chore in most homes and it is time-consuming. Even if just a one-time deep cleaning, it can be an amazing gift. A weekly or twice monthly cleaning for a few months would be awesome. Maybe she can use that time she would have been cleaning to watch a movie or read a book. š
Gift cards
Honestly, I don’t know a mom who wouldn’t be happy with a gift card or two. Bonus points if it is to a place she loves to shop but doesn’t get to very often. Think about places like Kohl’s or Hobby Lobby if she’s crafty. Even better would be to also include offering to watch the kids so she can go shopping in peace. Nobody enjoys trying on jeans. It’s even worse when you have little ones in the changing room with you, trying to crawl under the door.
Moms work hard and can be difficult to shop for. They often get so used to ignoring what they want that they don’t even know anymore. Take the guesswork out of Christmas gifts for mom with these ideas that she’ll be sure to love.
