As I shared on Facebook, Matt and I had a kid-free weekend this past weekend. This wasn't just any kid-free weekend. We drove the 4 hours down to Gillette Stadium for the concert of a lifetime: George Strait on his final tour. We are both huge George Strait fans so we knew we had to go. Even though he isn't retiring, he isn't touring anymore so we don't know if he'll ever do a concert up here again. I saved up for months and then Matt had the Christmas ice storm work so we were able to get our … [Read more...]
When You Can’t Negotiate Your Bills Any Lower
You always hear on blogs and from friends about how they called their cable provider, internet provider, phone company, etc. and were able to save a ton of money each month. Hundreds even. In the last few months I have tried to make my cell phone bill, internet bill, and my satellite TV bill lower. Do you want to know how it went? Not well. {source} My cell phone bill ended up working out for me in the end but it was almost a disaster. Instead of saving the $20ish I should … [Read more...]

Recipe: Maple Teriyaki Pork Stir Fry
Because we make maple syrup, I am always looking for ways to use it in recipes. One of my favorite ways recently has been Maple Teriyaki Pork Stir Fry. Stir fry tends to happen around here fairly often do the frugal nature of it. This is just one way to shake it up. This whole recipe takes about 25-30 minutes from start to finish. Most of our meals are not only frugal but also quick. (Please pardon the terrible pictures. My kitchen is not a very light friendly place.) You will need: 1 … [Read more...]
Selling On Etsy…Dynamic Writing {Part 3}
If you're just joining us, this is Part 3 of a 6 part series, Selling On Etsy. Parts 1 and 2 can be found here. Part 3 is a hard one for me. This one is all about writing titles, tags, and descriptions. You'd think that because I enjoy blogging I would find my Etsy writing a piece of cake. Nothing could be further from the truth. I struggle with my writing. I have gotten so much better in the past year and half but I still do not enjoy it. That being said, here are the things I have learned in … [Read more...]
A Year Into Our {Semi} Whole Food Journey
{source} It has been almost a year since we started our (semi) whole food journey. Basically, we are trying to focus on cutting out preservatives, dyes/colorings, and added sugar. In that year we have made some more changes. We are still buying organic bread and using a more natural peanut butter. I have in fact mastered the art of making iced tea. I use maple syrup to sweeten. Matt loves it! The changes we have made - I am buying plain yogurt and adding fruit and maple syrup to it. I … [Read more...]
