Keurig
You know this had to be on the list. Hot coffee in under 3 minutes whenever you want it? Yes, please! I’m convinced that the Keurig was invented for moms. I have a mom friend who doesn’t drink coffee but I tend to think she’s the except to the rule. Moms need coffee to survive.
Wall calendar
I love my blog planner and I really love having a calendar on my phone but nothing beats my wall calendar. It’s how I keep track of not only where we need to be and when but also when the bills are due. I highlight things on mine in different colors to make it easier to know what’s going on. Bills are yellow, blue is stuff we all have to do, and then each of us have our own color.
Hand held vac
I don’t know how I survived before my hand held vacuum. I originally bought it make cleaning the van easier. I hate having a messy car. But I have come to love it for home stuff as well. It’s perfect for a quick clean-up of cat fur on the sofa but one of the best things is under my daughter’s table. How do kids manage to drop so much food? During the week, she generally eats breakfast and lunch in the living room. Under her little table there are so many crumbs! It is so much faster and easier to clean it up with the hand held vac than it is to get the big one out and plugged in.
DVR/Netflix
We got DVR when my preschooler was a few months old. It was a game changer. At first it was just great because I could finally record the shows I loved but my husband hated. It was also great for shows that started later than we wanted to be awake. As my daughter grew, it was handy to record some of her favorite shows. One year we watched A Very Monkey Christmas every day for 6 weeks. Netflix is a great tool for the same reason. Both are great for getting to watch shows us moms want to watch during nap time too.

How did we ever function without smartphones? Yes, I realize some people still don’t use them. However, it is one of my favorite tools. Having a camera with me at all times is one of the best features. Remember the wall calendar? My phone calendar is a close second (yes, that’s color coded too). Kindle app? Perfect for when the baby falls asleep on you and you can’t move. Money saving/coupons apps? Perfect for stay at home moms on a tight budget. Coloring apps/games are great when you forget to pack coloring or books and are stuck in a waiting room. Not than any of us have ever done that… 😉
Reusable water bottle
Personally, I’ve become a huge fan of ones that are one-handed operation. I’ve always used a reusable water bottle as there are less spills than when using a glass but since kid #2, I’ve switched to a bottle that I can use one handed. It’s been life changing! I prefer this one that doesn’t have a straw. Cleaning straws is always annoying.
