Raise your hand if you love Amazon. I bet you did. Amazon has become part of almost every household. It has become an amazing way to save money, buy items you can’t find locally, and even be incredibly convenient. I bet you have even heard about Amazon Subscribe and Save. Are you taking advantage of it or are you a little confused? Don’t feel bad if you are a bit confused. It can be a bit difficult to understand at first.
However, Amazon Subscribe and Save can be a mama’s best friend…and not just because you’ll never run out of diapers ever again. If you’re wondering what this whole Subscribe and Save thing is about, you have come to the right place! Check out my guide to help you understand and make the most of it.
Amazon Subscribe and Save – Basic Info
Subscribe and Save (S &S) is great for items you use on a regular basis. Things like diapers, toilet paper, dishwasher tabs, snacks, vitamins, etc. You can choose automatic delivery for every month up to every six months. You can also change or cancel your order at any time. An email reminding you about your order will be sent about 9-10 days before your order ships so that you have time to change your order if needed. Often your order will ship early.
You can decide when you want your delivery date to be. Most items you will save 5% off the one-time price when you opt-in to subscribing. The exception to this is diapers and baby food which are 20% off with an Amazon Prime membership (you can start with a 30-day free trial to see if you like it). Your 5% savings will increase to 15% if you receive 5 or more items with your S & S in one month.
Your item prices may change month to month so it is important to go check on your items before they ship. You may decide something has increased too much and you can now get it cheaper locally. Sometimes you’ll be pleasantly surprised with a cost going down.
Maximize your savings
Now that you know the basics of how Subscribe and Save works, let’s move on to what you really want to know: how to use it to maximize your savings. To save the most you need to keep an eye on the things you use the most. Many times there will be a great deal or a coupon to clip that will make it so much cheaper. The coupons are only good for your first delivery of that item. Go here to see what coupons are available right now.
A great way to find a deal is to follow deal bloggers on Facebook. They often help you keep an eye on new coupons and S & S deals. Often things like Annie’s snack packs or dishwasher tabs are much cheaper than in a store. Some things are about the same, like baby wipes.
Another way to maximize your savings to have a full order each month. A full order is 5 or more items. In the interest of full disclosure, I have never had a full order so I have never saved 15%, just the 5%. I have not yet found 5 items I need in one month that would be cheaper through Amazon. However, if you purchase different items or brands than I do, you might find this is a great deal for you.
Convenience
Let’s face it. Sure, Subscribe and Save can save you money. It’s the best part. “Save” is right in the name! But really, for us moms, the main reason we love it is because of how stinkin’ convenient it is. It really takes a lot of thinking and driving out of your daily life. Moms tend to never stop thinking. Ever. Not having to remember to buy diapers or a favorite snack or toilet paper can really help clear up some mental space.
Amazon Subscribe and Save can be a huge money saver and time saver. It can be a tad confusing as you get used to it but these tips to help explain it and help you get saving. If you have a favorite Subscribe and Save item, leave a comment about what it is!
