Sunday night when we got home from our last competition, we noticed the laptop was being strange. It kept beeping saying it was plugged in, unplugged, plugged in, etc. It was still doing it yesterday. I had to hold the power cord a certain way to get the battery to charge.
As of last night, it wouldn’t charge at all. I check Amazon for a new power cord. My old laptop I could get one for $6. This one….$20. But still cheaper than if I have to get the power jack itself fixed so I put it into my cart. Didn’t place the order yet as I have no money to purchase it.
I then suddenly realized, I bought that laptop in November of last year. It is still under it’s one year warranty. So I chatted with an agent and they are sending me a new power cord for free! It should be here the end of the week or beginning of next. And if that doesn’t work, I will be sending my laptop in to Gateway and they will fix the power jack for free!
In the meantime, we have an old computer that a friend fixed up for me and I back most my info up on Cloud drives so I still have access to most the things I need.
So there’s my tip for today: always remember to check your warranty before you buy or fix things out of pocket. (And always back up your info as soon as you update a file, upload a picture, etc.)
