I am so excited to do another one of these monthly check-in posts. For those that missed last month, I started them last month as a way to help me feel like a person, a blogger, again instead of a “how to” article writer. I love writing the posts that help you be a mom, save money, organize, and other things as well. But it’s also nice for me to connect with you on a more personal level.
General review
March is usually a fairly long month as it has no major holidays unless Easter is early. We homeschool but we follow the public school schedule to a certain extent. That basically means spring break won’t be until mid-April for us. It is the month of my oldest’s birthday, though! She turned 6 this year. It was also the first year she had a friend party. In years past, we’ve had a combination family and friend party. It is always far too chaotic. Since my youngest’s birthday is only three weeks later, we did a friend party for Abby and will be doing a combo family party for both girls. So much simpler!
March was also when I became a Thirty-One consultant! Mamas, I’ve done a lot of different things over the years. I’ve even been an Avon lady. My main title besides “mom and wife” will always be “blogger,” but joining the Thirty-One family has been like coming home. I started doing well right from day one. I absolutely love helping other women find the perfect bag or find products to help them organize their homes. If you’ve been around here awhile, you’ll know that organizing is a bit of a passion of mine.
If you haven’t found your “thing” yet and jump from one thing to another, I hope that you do find it! There is nothing quite so freeing as finding that thing you feel made to do. If you think being a Thirty-One consultant might be that thing, drop a comment or shoot me an email. I’d love to talk to you about it.
March also is a big maple syrup making time of year in Maine. Even though we didn’t make any syrup this year, my husband has been involved in an operation and we visited many different sap houses during Maine Maple weekend. It was fun but tiring.
Money review
Honestly, I don’t think I have much here this month. Last month was a big deal as I paid off my student loan. Paychecks were on the smaller side this month due to some snow and sick days. It has caused me to stretch things a bit farther than I normally have to. I did the groceries one week for around $85! Sometimes it’s fun to see how far I can stretch the grocery budget.
I didn’t stick with my cash grocery budget like I should have. With the small paycheck, I just did the debit card. I didn’t have the leftover cash that is a nice cushion but I also had that extra $40 to put towards something besides groceries.
Also, since I have become a Thirty-One consultant, I will be having some extra money coming in. I won’t have my paycheck until April so really can’t count that yet. I did work on selling off my yarn stock left over from my old Etsy shop. It’s been a challenge. People are weird. Lots of backouts and no-shows. That is a hazard of selling online in local Facebook groups or craigslist. :/
Motherhood review
Some stages of motherhood are just rough! Both of my girls are going through different but equally hard stages. The older one is six going on fourteen. The attitude and emotions are tough on all of us some days. The toddler is waaaaaaay busier and into everything more than her sister was. I can no longer even leave the room long enough to use the bathroom or swap the laundry. Also, nothing, and I do mean nothing, takes ink pen off of satin wall paint without also removing the paint. Tip- no matter what the advice is, always go with semi-gloss paint.
However, it’s also so much fun to watch them both grow and learn. I have loved watching the six-year-old doing better with reading and taking on more responsibilities (even though both of those are also reasons for the attitude). The toddler has been learning 1-3 new words a day and it learning more about cause and effect. It’s fun to witness.
April is going to be an absolutely crazy, busy month here. I’m already tired and it hasn’t even started yet! Hopefully, your March has been great and you’re ready for April. What did you do this month? Drop a comment and let me know!
