It has been awhile since I last did I price comparison/money saving post. Since I am trying to stock up for after the baby is here, I have been working even harder to save money and find good deals.
Last week, I went to Shaw’s. Here is what I bought.
3 boxes of Near East Rice Pilaf–($2.29 for 2, $1.59 for 1)—sale price, $0.88 each
3 cans of Campbell’s Chunky soup– ($2.69)—sale price, $1.50 each
2 containers Edy’s Ice cream– ($5.49)— sale price, buy one get one free
1 loaf French bread–($1.90)—-sale price, $1.10 (usually hold out for $0.90 but needed this)
After a $3 off frozen food and a $0.50 off 3 soups coupon that was doubled, I only paid $9.73.
I saved $16.59!
I love it when I end up saving more than I spend. Doesn’t happen often.
The soup and the rice are for after Abigail is here. They are easy for Matt to prepare. I was excited to be able to get a good deal on these items as I don’t normally buy them.
And slightly connected, last year I kept track of how much I was able to save by shopping sales and using coupons. I didn’t do as well as I could have some months and weeks, but still not too bad. I managed to save $1,500.
Not bad. Hoping to do a little better this year. Since I will be staying home with the baby, I will have a little more time to spend on searching for deals and making more things at home. Or, I will once Abigail and I agree on a workable schedule. 🙂
