Another month has come and gone. Is it just me or are they going just a little bit faster each month? At the end of each month I like to share with you some ways I saved money over the month. I also love to hear how you saved! We are in the frugal living/living on a budget adventure together and I love to share encouragement.
1- There is a food/ice cream stand near my church that offers a free sundae with food purchase to moms on Mother’s Day. We always stop there after church on Mother’s Day. Then, an ice cream stand near where we live offers a “Moms Eat Free” deal as long as there is a $4 purchase. This is a much better deal as I can get a Blizzard type thing for free. Peanut butter cup, of course. My waist line may not like Mother’s Day too much but my taste buds certainly do. 😉
2- We used of Dunkin Donut gift cards to earn 2 free coffees. One was from regular spending to get to 200 points. The other was from a special bonus deal. I love free coffee!
3- I had been considering buying Abby one of those little pop-up play tents but a friend mailed us one as a late birthday present. Abby loves it!
4- We’ve been wanting soaker hoses for our garden as it is better for the plants than using a sprinkler, especially for tomatoes. However, for the amount we would need, it would be pretty expensive. I found 75 foot soaker hoses marked down from $15 to $7. For less than the price of one, I got two!
5- I desperately needed some kid-free time. Abby is currently in the highly emotional, cries at the drop of a hat stage of being three. Matt’s parents took Abby for a night and a day. We did some shopping and went out to eat. We were given a $25 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings. I then signed up for their e-mail list which got me $5 off. So essentially we had $30 worth of free food. After that, I spent $29 with tax on an appetizer, a beer (for me), a limeade (for Matt), and two main dishes. I highly doubt we will ever go to Buffalo Wild Wings again as the food wasn’t spectacular and the atmosphere was not one we enjoyed. But for a kid free night for less than $30, I really can’t complain. 😉
How did you save in May?
Free ice cream and free coffee sounds like my kind of deal! It was nice you were able to enjoy a kids free evening. My husband and I used to go to Buffalo Wild Wings every once in awhile before we were parents, but I agree with you, the atmosphere wasn’t for us either.

Glad to know it isn’t just us then. 🙂
