Welcome to November! There are so many things I love about November. Full on fall weather, Facebook is full of thankfulness instead of grumblings (well, about 5 days after the elections are over), yummy foods, Black Friday, time with family. But the thing I get most excited for is the sales on baking items. There is never a time of year where things like flour, butter, and sugar are so inexpensive besides the holiday season. Starting in November, you start to see those baking staple items hit … [Read more...]
Taking a Freezer Inventory to Save Money
I have to let you in on a secret. I'm a bit ashamed of this. I mean, I am probably the most organized person in the circles where we hang out. How is it that this happened? My freezers. I never really knew what was in my freezers. They didn't look messy and I always had a rough idea of what was in them. But then one day as I was putting away meat from a grocery trip, I got super annoyed. So I grabbed my notebook and went downstairs to the chest freezer. One thing I did when I purchased one was to promise myself and my family that I would not become one of those people who is constantly on their phone. So far, I have succeeded most of the time. I am a slight Instagram addict. Not in that I post way too many pictures but in that I love seeing what everyone else has posted. One of the things I love having a smartphone for that isn't super obnoxious … [Read more...]
Splurging…It Isn’t a Dirty Word
I spend a lot of time talking about how to cut back, save more money, make do with what you have, etc. That is a large portion of my life. That's a large portion of any frugal person's life. But what about splurging? Is that allowed? I mean, isn't "splurge" a dirty word? Aren't we suppose to be cutting out all unnecessary things to stretch the budget? Yes. And no. Small splurges Yes, we should be doing whatever we can to stretch the budget. However, part of this blog's vision is to … [Read more...]
