It doesn’t matter if you are an extrovert or introvert, an INTJ or ESFP, a blue or a red, your personality type affects everything you do. You may not even realize it as it is just such a part of who you are. Personality type can affect your worldview, your parenting, and even how to handle money. Yes, money! It gets even more interesting if you are married as most likely, your spouse has a different personality type than you do. Knowing how your personality type and managing money affect each other can make a difference in how you approach money.
How you spend
More than likely, if you are a bubbly, extroverted person, you’ll spend more money when out shopping. You’ll buy lots of wine and food and maybe even gifts for other people as you generally like to be around friends. You’re more likely to see money as fluid and don’t hold on to it much. You are also more likely to go shopping in an actual store.
Introverts are often a little different in how they spend. First of all, they are usually huge fans of online shopping. Most people these days like online shopping but introverts are really into it. It’s like online shopping was invented for them! It is so much easier than going out and dealing with people. They are also more likely to hunt for a bargain online.
Granted, this is a generalization. There are extroverts who don’t like to spend and introverts who love to go shopping.
How you manage bills
This one goes beyond the standard “introvert/extrovert” thing. Some people have a very “by the book” personality. They are the ones that generally have a very organized house, nothing out of place. Those people are more likely to have a very involved bill paying system.
Then they are other people that are more “fly by the seat of their pants.” Messes don’t bother them, they don’t even think of them as messes. They are more likely to throw bills on a counter or desk on their way to do something else…then totally forget about it until it is almost due or overdue.

How you save
This is a lot like how you manage bills. Those people who are very precise are most likely also going to be more precise in how they save their money. They are going to have a plan and do lots of research. Those who are more loose with how they do things, probably won’t have a plan and will just save here or there.
That isn’t to say that the precise person saves more money. It’s likely but not a guarantee. If you are more on the loose side but want to save money, you might want to consider automatic savings with your bank or splitting your direct deposit paycheck to have a little go straight to savings (if that’s an option for you).
As you approach money, think about your personality type. Most the time, I feel like it is important to embrace your personality type. It is who you are and not something to hide. However, if you are too free-spirited, you might need to really focus on how you manage your money. Similarly, if you are too strict, you might need to remember to loosen up and spend on something fun sometimes. Neither way is wrong, there’s just good and bad in both. Learn what personality type you are and learn how to make it work for you when it comes to how you manage money.
