It was a crazy busy weekend but we made time to stop at Shaw’s on our way home. Of course, we needed milk and bread anyway so might as well stop and get the deals too!
I purchased 22 items for $52.39. Total retail value was $90.80. Not as good as I would have liked but considering I had to purchase milk, bread, and paper towels not on sale, not too bad. Typically, I only purchase the sale items at Shaw’s but this week, since I didn’t do my normal shopping trip, I needed those few things.
As you have probably guessed, I’m most proud of my Dunkin Donuts coffee purchase. It was on sale for $5.49, $4.99 when you purchase 10 of the mix and match mega sale (you had to buy items in lots of 10 but it didn’t have to be all the same item, just so long it was part of the sale). I had four $1.50 off coupons. I ended up paying $13.96 for all four! Considering I would have to pay $24 pre-coupon for them at Walmart ($18 with coupons), I was very pleased. We normally buy cheaper coffee. It will be nice to have a treat every now and then.
I also purchased:
5 Pepsi 2 liters…..$0.88/each (mega sale item)
9lbs of boneless, skinless chicken breast……$1.69/lb
3pk of romaine hearts…….$2
3 cucumbers………$2
2lbs of strawberries……..$3.88
2 boxes of pasta……….$0.77/box
1 tub of frosting………$1.29 – doubled $0.55 coupon = $0.19 (mega sale item)
1 gallon of milk……..$4.29
1 loaf of bread…….$2.99
1 roll of paper towels……$1
Overall, I’m quite proud of my trip. Typically, the cheapest I see chicken is $1.99/lb. I wish I could have purchased more but it just wasn’t in the budget this week. I have come to realize that 60%-90% just isn’t a common occurrence here. Between living in a high cost of living state and not purchasing a bunch of junk just because of coupons, I find 40-60% savings is my goal for when I make the trip to Shaw’s.
