This year I decided to choose a word of the year. That is basically a word I want to live. I talked about it in this post back in January.
The three main areas I wanted to focus on were: Finance, Physical, and Material. Here are my original goals with my updates.
-Financially—I want to pay off my smallest student loan. I want to keep the savings account at no less than $500 at most times.
So far so good on this one. The smallest student loan is paid off and the car is paid off! The savings account is doing quite well. It will get a bit taken out of it as the lawn mower needs fixing, the truck needs fixing, etc.
-Physically–I want to lose 20 pounds and keep it off. I have been pretty lazy recently. With nursing, I can eat pretty much whatever. That needs to change as Abby will start the weaning process next month.
I’m only down about 3 pounds since January 1st. But I am doing much better at my eating (most the time) and exercising. I’m horrible at making time to exercise and making time to read my Bible. So will a Bible app on my phone, I know do both at the same time! That has helped a lot. And I weigh less than I did before I had Abby!
-Materially–I want to declutter this house to the extreme. In fact, I want to get rid of about a fourth of our stuff. The house is fairly small with little storage space. We only have the one child and no more on the way right now but we do want to keep expanding our family at some point. There is no place to put another child or all the stuff that comes with more children. There isn’t even space to put the things that Abby has outgrown, like the swing and bouncey seat. I want to not have to shove stuff in corners of the basement and closets anymore this year.
I have a massive pile of stuff to take to Goodwill. Just really starting to go through the basement storage room. It isn’t heated most the time so it is cold most the winter. Now that it is warmer outside, I don’t mind spending time down there so much. I did go through my desk in the living room this week and got rid of a number of things.
Overall, I am doing fairly well with my word. I am quite proud of myself. I’m hoping I can keep it up throughout the rest of the year.
