I've been doing fairly well with my Christmas resolution of staying on top of the dishes and laundry. Not wonderful but pretty good.It has been tough with a teething baby who then got a cold the day after she cut the tooth. She then decided to share her cold with me.Other than Sunday, I have managed to get some dishes done every day. I wasn't home much of Sunday or else I would have gotten some done.Laundry I've done okay with. I folded yesterday's laundry this morning. Once Abby wakes up from … [Read more...]
Forget New Year’s. Make a Christmas Resolution.
I have to confess something. There are two household chores that I struggle with. Dishes and laundry.I have a tendency to let the dirty dishes pile up before I finally get to them. I also tend to let the clean laundry sit in baskets in the living room for days before I finally fold them and put them away. Usually when I need the laundry basket to wash another load is when I finally take care of the clean laundry.I know this is crazy. I'm that person whose house is very clean 95% of the time. But … [Read more...]
Christmas Stockings
Last year I knew that I wanted us to have matching Christmas stockings. Previously, I had a silver one and Matt had a John Deere one. Matched our personalities, yes. Each other, no.Especially with Abby on the way, I wanted us to have ones that matched. I originally wanted some of those personalized embroidered ones like these:L. L. Bean But there was no way I could afford to get three for us then keep adding as we added to our family.I found an awesome tutorial on Pintereston how to make your … [Read more...]
My Christmas Card Deal
Because of Abby, I wanted to do a photo card this year. I usually just get marked down cards after Christmas and send those out next year. So I knew I would be spending more this year just because photo cards cost more.I was wrong.I was able to get 50 cards through Cardstore for $23.62.Which, by itself, is already a very good deal. But it gets better.37 of those already include stamps and are addressed!Only 37 of them are that way as you have to have them addressed to get the stamps included. I … [Read more...]
Christmas Wishings
It's that time of year where I have to start thinking about what we (Matt, Abby, and I) want for Christmas. We have discovered that it is way easier to give a "wish list" to family rather than have this conversation come Christmas Day."Gee, I hope you really like it. I tried to hard to find something that you would like.""Great."*crinkling paper*"Um, wow! A combination egg beater shoe horn. I.....didn't know they made those."So as I am working through that, I thought I would share with you … [Read more...]
Christmas Tip #2: Keep It Fun!!
I'm going to say something that might be controversial. But hey! When has that ever stopped me?Ready?Don't give underwear as a Christmas gift.Or socks. Or any normal clothing item. Or toothpaste or deodorant for that matter. Why you may ask?I feel like those items are things you are going to buy anyway. Those are necessities. No one is excited to open up a package of underwear on Christmas morning. I would much rather there be 1-2 nice gifts under the tree then 10-15 with most of those necessity … [Read more...]
