We all have at least an idea of what our personality type is. Introvert or extrovert. Loud or quiet. Public eye or behind the scenes. Some people are serious whereas some are more on the quirky side. Our personalities are what make us unique. But sometimes we feel ashamed by our personalities. Introverts sometimes feel like they are supposed to be more outgoing and love going and doing. Those that are loud and crazy sometimes feel like they need to be more subdued and less "in your … [Read more...]
No Excuses: The Difference Between Excuses and Reasons
Mamas, it's been awhile since I've written about something like this. I tend to stick with saving money, parenting, some cleaning, some mama hack type things, but not just something about life. I've had something on my mind for a few months. I read a blog post on prenatal fitness a couple months ago and it said, multiple times, "no excuses" to not being fit during pregnancy. Never once touched on the fact that some women have medical reasons to not exercise during pregnancy. It really grated on … [Read more...]
Frugal Failure – A Lesson Not a Discouragement
I was so proud of myself. I spend so much time researching and planning a grocery shopping trip. Organic macaroni and cheese was supposed to be $1 a box, a $0.55 coupon would double, making it free. So awesome! I found the mac and cheese in the organic section and checked and double checked that I was buying the correct box. Imagine my surprise when I got home and discovered I bought the wrong thing. I bought the gluten-free at $2.99 by mistake ($1.89 after coupon). It was right next to the … [Read more...]
Showing Our Successes- Why We Don’t Really Have It All Together
We all know that person. You know the one I'm talking about. The one who's Facebook page is full of beautiful meals, nice outfits, and statements about how great their kids are. We get annoyed by it, but we also wonder how in the world that person has it all together when we barely can find matching socks. We get jealous that we can't figure out how to be more put together ourselves. Sometimes these types of Facebook posts can really make us feel bad about ourselves. We start to think we are … [Read more...]
Lessons Motherhood Has Taught Me
Motherhood brings so many changes. Not just in the whole "there is a little person who is solely dependent upon me for all their needs" kind of way. I talked before about all the ways that becoming a mom has changed me. But it has also brought some lessons, not just about who I am or about children but just in general. Here are just some of the lessons from motherhood I have learned. 1- I really hate changing bed sheets. Like, really hate. A potty training child and a couple of stomach … [Read more...]
Learning to Be Content
I have a confession. I really struggle with being content. Like, I really struggle with this, not just a little bit. Our house is small and in need of updating. We've pretty much out grown it. But we won't be able to move for years, if ever. Remodeling is a very slow process. I see these beautiful, open concept houses and I start to really dislike my house. Our laptop is older. The battery doesn't have much of a life. The power cord doesn't like to stay plugged in so we have to hold it on … [Read more...]
