Monday is my standard grocery shopping day. This usually means we (Abby and I) go to Walmart and Hannaford. Near the front door and in the first wide aisle, Walmart had their Easter stuff on clearance. I saw plastic Easter eggs marked down from $1.97 to $0.97 for 42 eggs. Not a bad deal so decided to pick them up for next year. Plus, I keep seeing games to play with toddlers using these eggs. I got to the register and the eggs actually rang up at $0.30! That's about $0.007 per egg. … [Read more...]
Grocery Shopping Trip….Saved More Than 50%
Friday was a big shopping trip for Abby and me. We left the house at 8:25, got to the first store at 9:03 and went to 5 more places after that. Was home in time for a late lunch at 12:30.One of the main reasons we went into the "big city" was to go to Shaw's. They had some great sales going on. Like Ocean Spray cranberry juice for $1.88 a bottle (Matt drinks a lot of cranberry juice) and pasta for $0.88 per one pound box. Weeks with really good sales and a good paycheck I like to go into town … [Read more...]
Flawed People
Did anyone else watch The Bible mini-series on History this past month? I enjoyed it. It wasn't 100% accurate but was fairly close on some things, little worse on others. Much better than I expected. What struck me was how real it was. You can read the Bible all day and still not have it strike you as hard as it does when seeing it. Seeing Sarah tell Abraham to go sleep with her maid. Seeing David hide from King Saul. Seeing Jesus getting nailed to the cross. Just made the Bible come to … [Read more...]
Updates and New Boots
-As much as I enjoyed the parties we had this month, glad things have settled down. Parties on back-to-back weekends may not have been the best idea. Very glad for some normalcy and down time. Well, sort of down time. There are always things to do. :) -Maple syrup season is in full swing. We have already canned just under 4 gallons. Last week we didn't boil at all. Too cold for the sap to flow. This week...40s during the day, 20s at night. Perfect for the season. Pretty much means we will be … [Read more...]
How Quickly A Year Goes By
Today is the first day of spring.....although you wouldn't know it to look out my window and see a foot of freshly fallen snow. Today is more important than that. Today is also Abby's first birthday!! It is just amazing how quickly that year went by. This time last year I was in the hospital recovering from a c-section. It was 70-80 degrees outside. I missed all the nice weather and was so mad about it. It's also amazing how much she changed and grew in a year. You'd think after … [Read more...]
Abby’s Grand Adventure
Yesterday afternoon after church we came home, ate lunch, washed dishes, you know, the usually stuff. Little did we know the rest of the day would not be as mundane and normal.Sundays throw off naps what with the car naps on the way to and from church. So Abby's nap doesn't usually happen until 3:30 or so. So when Matt went to go get her after she woke up, I was side tracked with some other things as it was late in the day.He was in the kitchen working on maple syrup. I was in the living room … [Read more...]
