Wow. That was a busy weekend.
Friday we drove 3 hours to set up a lumberjack show then stayed at my parents’ house that night.
Saturday was the competition. Great show but tiring. We kept it so fast paced I had to tell my husband to take his time setting up an event so that I had time to run to the bathroom! I even had to have my mom give the baby a bottle as I couldn’t nurse and do the scoring at the same time. Not enough time.
Then we drove back home that night.
Yesterday Matt’s family came over for a visit because his aunt is in the state for her annual visit. Then we had to get a bunch of stuff ready for Matt’s work this week. He is doing something a little different than normal so involved more prep.
Just…..too much stuff in one weekend. I’m pretty much dead today. I’m trying to convince people that we don’t exist from July through October. We have shows starting in June and October but mid-July through mid-September we have at least one show every weekend. There are two weekends in August that we have three shows.
Sometimes I feel like no one else understands just how much of a commitment this is for us, more so when we are running the competition. It’s just like horse shows or the rodeo circuit. We are just plain unavailable for a few months a year. It’s like trying to get an accountant to have a get-together during tax season. Just a bad idea.
Now I need to go get ready for the competition we will be running this weekend. 🙂
