A couple weeks ago my local thrift store had their $5-Fill-A-Bag day. I've mentioned this before. I have missed the last few but was able to go this time.I got a pair of jeans for me, 2 long-sleeved shirts for me, 2 long-sleeved shirts for Abby, and a winter themed sleep bag for Abby. 6 items for $5. That's roughly 83 cents an item. Awesome! I didn't even completely fill the bag. I didn't take a picture of everything I purchased but here are Abby's new clothes. Hard to see but that light blue … [Read more...]
Pinterest: Stain Treater That Works!
I know, I know. I'm always talking about that stain remover I found on pinterest. But I am so excited by it that I can't help it! I am never buying stain remover again. I want to show you how well it works because I am that impressed. I wish I knew about this years ago.Matt's hard hat liner gets gross. Like seriously, gross. I used to soak it in water, vinegar, and baking soda and still, this is how clean it would get.Gross, right? This is after it came out of the wash. After! So I decided to try … [Read more...]
Christmas Tip #2: Keep It Fun!!
I'm going to say something that might be controversial. But hey! When has that ever stopped me?Ready?Don't give underwear as a Christmas gift.Or socks. Or any normal clothing item. Or toothpaste or deodorant for that matter. Why you may ask?I feel like those items are things you are going to buy anyway. Those are necessities. No one is excited to open up a package of underwear on Christmas morning. I would much rather there be 1-2 nice gifts under the tree then 10-15 with most of those necessity … [Read more...]
Shopping Trip…Major Savings
I'm very excited about last week's shopping trip. I actually didn't spend any money. Matt received a Walmart gift card for having a certain number of passed truck inspections at work. It came just in time too. Height of lumberjack season also means many short work weeks which in turn means small paychecks. But that is not the only reason I am excited. I was able to use a number of coupons and got a few items free, others very cheap. I did purchase some food items as well but these are the … [Read more...]
Caring for Cloth Diapers
I've already told you about the cost savings of using cloth diapers. I'm not saving as much right now as we are gone every weekend and I use disposables then. But I still use them when home. One thing people are always asking when they find out we use cloth diapers is "isn't it a pain to take care of them?"My answer is no. Because I use prefolds and a cover, there isn't much by way of special care. All-in-ones, pocket diapers, etc. have more intensive care instructions. You can't use … [Read more...]
Grocery Store Savings…7.11.12
We had to go into the "big city" on Friday for an appointment. Since we were going to be in town anyway, I decided to head over to Shaw's. We only have a Hannaford, Wal-mart, and Family Dollar here. Shaw's is generally more expensive but they do have amazing sales. Plus, they are the only place I know of in the state that doubles coupons. Here is what I bought and the price break-down. I apologize for the lack of picture but I needed to get Abby to bed the minute we got home.2 liter of store … [Read more...]
