It has been over month since I made this post about reducing our debt. A lot has happened since then. And not in a good way.Until Matt got paid today, we had a total of $8.66 to our names. That's it. No more. Well, some change in a jar but less than $5 worth. Still don't have much more than that.Plus, it gets worse. This month, the van needs registered, Matt really needs new work boots and this is the one month out of the year they are 20% off, and the laptop is still being limped along. Not to … [Read more...]
Cloth Diapering
We decided awhile ago that we would be doing cloth diapers to save money. Cloth diapers are so different from how they were when I was a baby so I knew it would be easier than years past. We are doing the cheapest option, prefolds, seen above, and a cover. There are all kinds of new cloth diapers like all in ones (the diaper and cover are one piece), ones that have disposable liners, and tons more. However, what we are doing, is not only the cheapest but also the easiest to care for. They … [Read more...]
Big and Scary
Here's a big scary number.$43,336.84Why is that number scary? I'll tell ya.It's how much debt we currently owe. Yup. Wow. I had no idea it was that much. We have student loans, two car loans, and the medical bill from Abigail's birth. So I knew we had quite a bit right now but hadn't calculated it out until today.75% of that big number is student loans, 18.5% is car loans, and the remaining 6.5% is the hospital bill for Abby. The need for a c-section definitely made that number much bigger … [Read more...]
May Budget Clothing Shopping
I have managed to get a number of great deals on clothing this month. I have discovered this thrift store in the next town over. I had known about it for awhile but never went there. Always figured it wasn't very good since it was so small and a mill town. Nothing against mill towns but most people wear Walmart clothes, nothing of good quality. So figured the thrift store wouldn't have many good things.Boy, was I wrong. Small, yes, but a ton of stuff and most of it was pretty good. I added them … [Read more...]
I Love Free Stuff
I love free stuff. I'm always on the look-out for freebies. Even sample sizes are awesome as I can stick them in our travel shower bags. So when I got pregnant, I looked at all the baby freebies on many of the money saving blogs that I read. I didn't even know that I would be getting this last freebie. Look at what I got in the mail on Saturday. While I do plan on breastfeeding, I wanted some formula on hand just in case. I was unable to use a good coupon I had before it expired so I was … [Read more...]
