If you're like me, you always thought it was odd to order coupons online through coupon clipping services. I mean, how are you actually saving money if you are spending money on the coupons? Then I realized. I spend money on a Sunday paper when there are good coupons. How is that any different? So I took the plunge. I ordered my first coupons just over a month ago. Then I did it the next week. Then off and on since then. Here is what I have discovered. 1- It is actually cheaper to … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in August
A bit of a boring month here on the saving money front. August and September are more often spending money months not saving money. Here are the few things I did do in August to save a little bit. 1. We were able to stay with friends for two of our long distance competition weekends and the other one we split a hotel and gas with Matt's jack and jill crosscut partner.2. I used coupons and sales to purchase most the food for Matt's surprise 30th birthday party.3. I redeemed two free coffee … [Read more...]
Shaw’s Trip….42% Savings
It was a crazy busy weekend but we made time to stop at Shaw's on our way home. Of course, we needed milk and bread anyway so might as well stop and get the deals too!I purchased 22 items for $52.39. Total retail value was $90.80. Not as good as I would have liked but considering I had to purchase milk, bread, and paper towels not on sale, not too bad. The tips are still valid so I thought I would share them with you again. (Originally posted 7/11/10) Friday was I was … [Read more...]

When You Can’t Negotiate Your Bills Any Lower
You always hear on blogs and from friends about how they called their cable provider, internet provider, phone company, etc. and were able to save a ton of money each month. Hundreds even. In the last few months I have tried to make my cell phone bill, internet bill, and my satellite TV bill lower. Do you want to know how it went? Not well. {source} My cell phone bill ended up working out for me in the end but it was almost a disaster. Instead of saving the $20ish I should … [Read more...]
