I love being a mom. I really do. When my daughter runs across the room and gives me a big hug while saying, "I love you, Mommy," it just makes me melt. I love watching her when she finally succeeds at something she has been trying for awhile. I love hearing her made up little songs. But then there are "those" days. Weeks, even. You know the ones I'm talking about. There are toys everywhere, cereal has been ground in the carpet, you don't even know what is on the sofa, the kid(s) have screamed … [Read more...]
The Parallel Between God’s Grace and Parenthood
Over the course of this year I have been learning so much about God's grace and how to extend grace to others. I find it no coincidence that the current sermon series at church is about grace. Until this year, I never truly understood grace. Yea, sure, that's something that God extends to us. He sent His son to take death for us, He forgives us when we mess up, you know, standard "God's grace" stuff. But since having a toddler, I have come to understand it is so much more than that. My … [Read more...]
8 Ways How Becoming a Mom Has Changed Me
There is something about becoming a parent, a mom especially, that just changes you. It changes your perspective, your ideas, your ability to pee in peace. I've been thinking the past few weeks on how becoming a mom has changed me. 1- I am never on time anywhere anymore. Ever. I don't care how early I try to leave, there is always a diaper or potty emergency, a shoe is missing, someone wants to do the stairs "all by me self." There's just always something. Or, in an attempt to not be late, … [Read more...]
Learning to Be a “Yes Mom”
A couple of weeks back (okay, make that almost a month ago) I posted this on the Logger's Wife Facebook page: This morning I decided to be a "yes mom" and let Abby play in the soaking wet mess known as her sandbox. The intense downpours we had yesterday destroyed the cover I made for it and the sand was so soaked, there were standing puddles. My first instinct was to tell her to let it dry out a little but then I decided, not a big deal to play in the mud. I could always just rinse her … [Read more...]
Moments Like These
This morning I had every intention of sitting down to blog when we got home from grocery shopping. But...plans changed. You see, it was a gorgeous day outside and I had a little girl who was very excited about the fact that we finally had sand to put in her sandbox. Picture: Hyper active chihuahua So instead of sitting inside and writing some post about stockpile storage or the best coupons this week or an update on my word to live this year, I was outside, watching my daughter's pure … [Read more...]
Life With a Toddler
