1. A large box and some crayons provided hours and hours of entertainment for Abby. We've been struggling as she has outgrown most her toys. It is very tempting to go buy new but the box has gained us some weeks! 2. I went into the big town/small city near me to go to Shaw's as they had a number of great deals. Am I most excited about my $0.89 peanut butter or my $0.38 cereal? Nope! I was pleasantly surprised to see the boneless skinless chicken breasts I was going to pay paying $1.87/lb … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in October
1. We stopped for dinner after a competition the very end of September. I ordered a $10 burger then discovered it was $5.99 burger night! (Yes, I know it isn't technically October but I'm counting it anyway!)2. I had a laptop issue this month. The power jack was having issues. I found a computer place where a friend works that only charged $50/hour. I also looked the part up myself before going so I knew it was a cheap part. I only paid $57 to get my laptop fix instead of hundreds of dollars … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in September
1. I used my Fuel Rewards Network card to fuel up my van. It only saves 3 cents per gallon for me right now but all savings are good savings! 2. I packed our lunches for competition days. It can be a lot work to get everything ready ahead of time but considering an average fair food meal is about $10, I'm saving us close to $20 per competition. Since we had seven competitions this month, that is just under $140! 3. I was able to use some coupons combined with a sale to get six boxes of … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in August
A bit of a boring month here on the saving money front. August and September are more often spending money months not saving money. Here are the few things I did do in August to save a little bit. 1. We were able to stay with friends for two of our long distance competition weekends and the other one we split a hotel and gas with Matt's jack and jill crosscut partner.2. I used coupons and sales to purchase most the food for Matt's surprise 30th birthday party.3. I redeemed two free coffee … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in July
1- My town voted to start paying for our residents to use the neighboring town's library again. So I no longer have to pay $25/year! 2- One of Abby's sippy cups cracked and was leaking. I wrote to the company and they sent me two $7.99 off coupons so I could replace her cup, and get more, for free! 3- My kitchen trash can broke. We were given a Walmart gift card so I was excited to get a higher quality, nicer looking trash can....without the gift card there was no way I was spending $50 on … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in June
Happy 4th of July to my American readers. While I am off at a lumberjack competition followed by a cookout, here are some ways that we saved in June. I'd love to hear some of the ways you saved money last month. Go ahead and leave a comment telling me what you did! :) 1- We purchased a A/C recharging kit for our van from the auto parts store. Still haven't done it, but we are all set to do it. 2- I downloaded an audiobook from my library's audiobook/e-book website. I like to listen to … [Read more...]
