With August over and September underway, it is almost fall. Which means....almost apple picking time! I love to go apple picking. It is probably the one thing I look forward to the most all year. The whole family loves it. I love the fall weather, my daughter loves the fun at the orchard, and my husband loves all the yummy things I make. Well, let's be honest. We all love the yummy things. ;) This year I'm excited to do some crafty things with Abby. She is finally old enough to really enjoy … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in August
A bit of a boring month here on the saving money front. August and September are more often spending money months not saving money. Here are the few things I did do in August to save a little bit. 1. We were able to stay with friends for two of our long distance competition weekends and the other one we split a hotel and gas with Matt's jack and jill crosscut partner.2. I used coupons and sales to purchase most the food for Matt's surprise 30th birthday party.3. I redeemed two free coffee … [Read more...]
Etsy Planner Page
Monday I started searching for a blog planner. I'm just plain losing track of what I'm doing, what I want to do, etc. However, I couldn't find one that I liked 100% so I ended up picking bits and pieces from different free printable blog planners. A calendar from one, a blog idea list from another, a link party list organizer from yet another one....and so on. I kept running into one problem, though. I also wanted to use this planner for my Etsy shop. I already was planning on using black ink … [Read more...]
Maple Iced Tea- A Healthier Iced Tea
I use maple syrup in so many different ways. It is probably my favorite natural sugar alternative. One of the many things I make with maple syrup is iced tea. (If you're curious as to why I use so much maple syrup, check here.) Not only is it cheaper to make iced tea yourself, this version is also a healthier iced tea. I make this about every 5 days or so. It makes about 2 liters. It's prefect if you are trying to replace refined white sugar with natural sweetener options. {photo credit: … [Read more...]
Shaw’s Trip….42% Savings
It was a crazy busy weekend but we made time to stop at Shaw's on our way home. Of course, we needed milk and bread anyway so might as well stop and get the deals too!I purchased 22 items for $52.39. Total retail value was $90.80. Not as good as I would have liked but considering I had to purchase milk, bread, and paper towels not on sale, not too bad. Typically, I only purchase the sale items at Shaw's but this week, since I didn't do my normal shopping trip, I needed those few things. As you … [Read more...]
Ways I Saved in July
1- My town voted to start paying for our residents to use the neighboring town's library again. So I no longer have to pay $25/year! 2- One of Abby's sippy cups cracked and was leaking. I wrote to the company and they sent me two $7.99 off coupons so I could replace her cup, and get more, for free! 3- My kitchen trash can broke. We were given a Walmart gift card so I was excited to get a higher quality, nicer looking trash can....without the gift card there was no way I was spending $50 on … [Read more...]
